Project Management

Project Management is the
driver of strategy

Prime Partners Engineering has answered questions for clients, providing recommendations for critical engineering problems pivotal to the safety, stability, and longevity of some of the most important infrastructure in Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

District Department of Transportation Bus Shelter Program – MC Dean/Clear Channel

Prime Partners Engineering is responsible for providing electric interconnection project management and engineering design services for the District Department of Transportation Bus Shelter Replacement program via MC Dean and Clear Channel.  The program consists of replacing more than 400 bus shelters in the District of Columbia with new modern shelters to enhance safety and convenience of bus transportation. The Prime project team manages all aspects of the project planning and design phase of the program. This consisted of facilitating stakeholder meetings, providing bi-weekly reports, removing project roadblocks, and maintaining project documentation. Along with project management, Prime provides field feasibility analysis, structural facility designs, traffic control plans, and permit management. The program team has completed thirty-three (33) of the bus shelter locations thus far.

Distribution Engineering Third Party Attachment Program- Pepco Holdings

Prime Partners Engineering (PPE) is responsible for providing end to end project management service to Pepco’s Distribtuion Engineering team on the third party attachement program. They are responsible for managing the third party attachement applications for Crown Castle, AT&T, T-Mobile, Dish Wiresless, and RCN. PPE’s project team performed the following project tasks: project application intake, assignment to the Pepco Engineering Design Contractor of Choice, coordination with the customer, approval of the engineering design and cost estimate, invoice management, overall project tracking and reporting, facilitate weekly project update meetings, create billing agreement and request, create material requisitions permit and TPF oversight and release job to construction.

Solar Net Energy Metering Program (NEM)- Pepco Holdings

Prime Partners Engineering (PPE) is responsible for providing project management services to Pepco’s Solar NEM team from the design phase of the project to its completion. NET Energy Metering systems use solar energy to power homes and any excess that is generated is either stored or returned to grid for credit. The objective of the NEM program is to provide subscribers with solar powered energy while allowing them to utilize the benefits of this systems such as receiving a monetary reimbursement for energy not used. Starting in February 2022, PPE has successfully managed roughly 160 projects in the DC and Maryland jurisdictions.
PPE’s project team has performed the following tasks on these projects: project intake, design reviews & approval, cost letter creation, billing agreement and billing request creation, weekly update & check-ins with PEPCO & Pepco’s Design Engineer of Choice to ensure project phases are moving efficiently, bi-weekly project updates with customer, releasing jobs to construction, following up with scheduling teams for construction updates, and overall project tracking. To successfully complete these tasks, an extensive knowledge of electrical power generation, transmission, & distribution systems are needed. Understanding PEPCO’s work order processes including the tools needed to track and organize them such as AS8, Exelon Compatible Library, SharePoint & Microsoft Teams is also critical to ensure these tasks are completed within scope.
Since PPE has become involved with the NEM program, we have managed 50 projects to completion. The system size of these jobs can vary from 1KW to 25KW where certain jobs can involve the installation multiple transformers & poles and hundreds of feet of mainline wire. To improve efficiency, PPE has also created design templates and permit matrices to reduce the amount of design revisions needed from an EOC and to ensure all permitting documents needed for a particular project are received by the time a project is ready to be released to construction.
